3 Reasons Why You Should Be Relentless

And become the laser that penetrates through anything.

We are told to be flexible, adaptable, and polite. We are expected to bend and stay within the expectations of society. We are supposed to follow the current norms and not ask too many questions. We are deemed decent human beings if we frown upon words like anger, ruthlessness, and relentlessness regardless of the context.

That’s how you live a miserable life.

If you want a life worth living, you need to be kind yet ruthless, patient yet relentless, and polite yet stern at the same time.

When I say be relentless, I’m talking about approaching goals fearlessly, sticking to promises you made to yourself, and pursuing your dreams with an unbent passion and drive.

But why?

1. You can’t be half pregnant

You either are or aren’t. There is no middle ground. There is no kinda. That’s the only way to succeed. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule.

However, pretty much all the successful people you know today put in the work. At some point in their lives, they had to decide that enough is enough. They had to tell themselves that “I want this and I’m going to swing for it and I won’t let anything scare me away”.

The most successful people I know have a narrow focus, protect themselves against time-wasters, say no to almost everything, and have let go of old limiting beliefs.

Derek Sivers’ book Hell Yeah or No: What’s Worth Doing

How many times have you sat down to plan something at lengths and forgot about it a week later? How often do we talk about what we’re going to do one day? How often do we ditch our dreams for temporary shiny frogs?

That’s the recipe for a numb old age filled with more regrets than wrinkles and more emotional aches than rugged joints. Our existence in this world needs to change from a floating boat in the waves to a shark that goes right through.

2. The world doesn’t owe you shit

Don’t expect anything from anybody, you’re only setting yourself up for disappointment if you do. The world won’t give you anything because it owes you nothing.

Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. THe world owes you nothing. It was here first

Mark Twain

A degree doesn’t guarantee a job, hard work doesn’t promise rewards, your invested emotions can’t assure reciprocation, and pouring your heart out doesn’t warrant appreciation.

If you want something, you have to earn it. You have to fight for it. You have to show up and let the world know how badly you want it. You have to scream at the top of your lungs with your actions. And You have to do this repeatedly until you get what you want.

3. You only live once

You can’t get another shot at this no matter what. That’s something we simply can’t deny. The breath you just took can’t be brought back. The moment that just passed will never be seen again. Life is extremely precious.

Why waste something precious trying to live under someone else’s shadow? Why try to please people who will forget you existed 3 hours after you’re under the ground? Just why?

Take your shots and squeeze every freaking drop of this thing. I don’t know what gets your pulses going but whatever it is, now is the time.

Let yourself loose. Give yourself the freedom to fail and not care.

Draw the ugliest drawing. Write the most horrendous song. Come up with the most atrocious theory. Invent the funniest devices.

You only live once. ONCE.
